Zille: Cop killings a result of criminal paranoia
Helen Zille says recent police murders are a result of criminals feeling the heat of the police.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille believes the spate of police killings in the province is as a result of criminals feeling the heat of the police.
Three officers were killed when they came under fire by a gang of robbers in an informal settlement in Philippi last week.
A memorial service and three wreath laying ceremonies were held in their honour on Friday.
National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega was also there.
Zille says the police are winning the battle.
"It's true, the police are increasingly under attack and my impression is that it's because of the great success that the police are having confiscating illegal firearms."
