100th match for WP's ‘biggest fans’
Kobus and Riette Koegelenberg will be attending their 100th match at Newlands this weekend.
JOHANNESBURG - A couple claiming to be Western Province (WP)'s biggest supporters will be attending their 100th match at Newlands this weekend.
Province will be defending their Currie Cup title against the Sharks on Saturday.
Kobus and Riette Koegelenberg have been married for 20 years and attended their first WP game at Newlands in 2007 when they caught the bug.
It is hard to miss the Koegelenberg's house as you enter the coastal town of Kleinmond.
The entire property is adorned with WP paraphernalia from a giant Disa painted on the roof to matching burglar bars.
Riette says being a WP supporter is a lifestyle.
"My favourite player is Tiaan Liebenberg, but he's injured at this stage. My cat's name was Scarra Ntubeni."
Sporting matching WP tattoos, the Koegelenberg's say the Currie Cup is here to stay.
