JOHANNESBURG - A Soweto woman accused of cutting off her boyfriend's penis has been formally charged with attempted murder.

Evidence Nkuna, who was previously facing a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, appeared in the Meadowlands Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

The case was transferred to the Protea Magistrate's Court.

It's understood the 21-year-old woman caught her boyfriend with another woman earlier this month and forced the pair to take off their clothes.

Nkuna then allegedly took out a knife and castrated the man.

She is out on R2,500 rand bail and is expected back in court on Friday.
