Bogus marriage scammers arrested
Two Indian women and a Pakistani man were arrested in Joburg during a raid by immigration officials.
JOHANNESBURG - At least three people arrested for their alleged involvement in a fake marriage scam are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
The two Indian women and a man from Pakistan were arrested in Johannesburg during a raid by immigration officials.
The Department of Home Affairs says in one incident, the woman registered herself as being married to a South African man, when in fact she was living with her foreign husband.
The department's Ronnie Mamoepa, said, "Those implicated in such acts, including their South African counterparts, be warned that the full might of the law."
