'Satanic' beheading: Teen in court
A 17-year-old boy was arrested after the head of a teenager was discovered buried in his garden.
CAPE TOWN - A 17-year-old Ravensmead boy is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court today in connection with apparent satanic killing of another youth.
The teenager was arrested at the weekend, after a decapitated body was found at a primary school in the area on Thursday.
An investigation led officers to the suspect's home where police discovered the victim's head buried in suspect's front garden.
The police's Andre Traut says when police searched the boy's home, they found paraphernalia thought to be linked to Satanism.
"On Thursday evening a beheaded body of an unknown male person was found at a school that is no longer in use in Ravensmead. Police investigations led detectives to a house in North Street, where a 17-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge of murder."
A large group of Ravensmead community members have gathered outside the court in support of the family of the 15-year-old victim.
The case is expected to be held in camera, as the accused is a minor.
Some residents have told Eyewitness News they are distraught at the gruesome killing.
A vigil will be held this evening at the school where the victim's body was discovered.
The exact motive of the murder is unclear at this stage.
