CAPE TOWN - City of Cape Town bosses admit it is difficult to say if the MyCiTi Bus Service will be rolled out to Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain by December as planned.

Several issues, including the recent strike in the Retail Motor Industry and protracted negotiations, have halted the introduction of service to those two areas.

The city says it is yet to receive buses for the route and it is still in talks with Golden Arrow and taxi associations about a contract to run the service there.

The municipality's Brett Herron says, "The city is really ready but we will know within the next week or so when we meet again with the operators what the likelihood is."

Meanwhile, the bus service will be expanding from November with new routes to Vredehoek, Oranjezicht, Sea Point and Camps Bay, as well as routes in Melkbosstrand and Century City.
