Pinetown crash bail application concluded
The state is confident it has presented a solid case to ensure bail is rejected.
JOHANNESBURG - Truck driver Sanele May, who is facing 24 counts of murder in the Pinetown Magistrates' Court, is expected to know by next week Tuesday whether his bail application has been successful.
May is accused of killing 24 people when the truck he was driving crashed into four fully laden taxis and two vehicles last month.
The National Prosecuting Authority's Nathi Mncube says the state is confident they have presented a solid case to ensure bail is rejected.
"The state concluded its case and the bail application. The matter has been adjourned to 22 October for judgement and we're hoping the magistrate will agree with us."
May claimed the brakes of the truck failed.
