CAPE TOWN - A state pathologist will today continue to give evidence in Anene Booysen's rape and murder trial.

Tygerberg Hospital pathologist Karisha Quarry shared graphic details on Wednesday of how the 17-year-old Bredasdorp girl died after she was raped, mutilated and left for dead in February.

Johannes Kana is accused of raping and murdering the teenager.

He has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teen but denies killing her.

Quarry will return to the witness box in the Swellendam Circuit Court where she's expected to undergo further cross examination.

She told the court on Wednesday excessive force was used to mutilate Booysen.

Quarry said a foreign object was used to disembowel the teenager, adding severe force was also used to harm her.

Kana has confessed to punching and kicking Booysen before raping her.
