JOHANNESBURG - Only four runs added in less than four overs of play as South Africa were 249 all out shortly after the start of the second day of the first test against Pakistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, South Africa were 245/8 at the close of play on the opening day of the first test against Pakistan.

Hashim Amla put a superb performance, batting through the heat to finish unbeaten on 118, after being caught by Younis Khan off Irfan, while JP Duminy marked his return to test cricket with a well played 57.
