Booysen's foster mom testifies
Corlia Olivier broke down on several occasions in the Swellendam Circuit Court on Monday.
CAPE TOWN - Murdered Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen's foster mother said dealing with her death was painful.
Corlia Olivier testified in the Swellendam Circuit Court on Monday.
Johannes Kana is accused of raping and murdering the teen in February.
Booysen was raped, mutilated and left for dead at a construction site.
Kana confessed to sexually assaulting the 17-year-old, but denies killing her.
Eight months after Booysen's brutal murder, Olivier told the court it was still difficult to come to terms with what happened.
She started crying in the witness box as she described what Booysen looked like when she saw her in hospital shortly after the attack.
The court had to adjourn twice to allow her to compose herself.
Olivier testified while in hospital, Booysen complained to her about the pain she was in.
She also told the court when she asked her who attacked and raped her, the teenager said it was Zwai and his friends.
When asked if Booysen mentioned the name Johannes Kana, she quickly answered no.
The trial resumes on Tuesday.
