Investigators: Krejcir lying about Issa

Sam Issa’s car was allegedly seen at Radovan Krejcir’s shop hours before he was killed.

BEDFORDVIEW - Eyewitness News understands the Audi Q7 Sam Issa was shot and killed in on Saturday morning was spotted outside Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir's gold exchange shop, Moneypoint, less than 10 hours before.

Issa, who was also known as 'Cripple Sam' and 'Black Sam', was shot dead by a gunman who pulled up next to him at a traffic light near the Bedford Centre in the early hours of the morning.

It's believed an AK47 was used and more than 30 empty bullet cartridges were found on the scene.

It's understood Krejcir and Issa had a fall out a few weeks before the shooting, but Krejcir has strongly denied being associated with the Lebanese national.

While Krejcir has claimed he only knew Issa from around the neighbourhood, describing him as a "strange man," Issa's friends have described him as a "party animal."

Two independent investigators have told Eyewitness News that the Czech was lying.

Paul O'Sullivan says Issa and Krejcir have been seen together on a regular basis over the past two years.

"For Krejcir to say he doesn't know him or hardly knows him is just not true," he says.

O'Sullivan says Krejcir consistently denies involvement in such incidents despite clear links.

"Well, why did Radovan Krejcir deny having anything to do with Uwe Gemballa? Why did he deny having anything to do with the death of Lolly Jackson? What do you think these guys are going to do? Come out and say, 'Yes, it was me. Lock me up,'" he asked.

He also accused some police of having known about Issa's activities but doing nothing about them.

"Not good cops - bad cops. Problem is; Krejcir has a number of cops on his payroll."

At the same time, Chad Thomas says the link is obvious.

"What is Sam doing coming from a hotel behind Radovan's pawn shop at that time of the morning if he lived less than three kilometres away?"

Krejcir has been named as a suspect in five high profile murders but has never been charged.

He is also fighting to avoid extradition to his home country where he is facing a number of charges including conspiracy to murder.

Meanwhile, police are investigating allegations that a white vehicle with blue lights attached was used in the hit on Saturday.

No arrests have been made.
