Masinga has faith in young Bafana squad

Phil Masinga believes young players need to be given a chance to develop their skill ahead of 2018.

CAPE TOWN - It is great to see a host of young players in the squad for tonight's friendly game against Morocco, former Bafana Bafana player Phil Masinga said on Friday.

Even though South Africa failed to book its place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, they hope to do well in this game.

Belgium-based Ayanda Patosi and Ajax Cape Town's Keagan Dolly were named in the squad.

Masinga says these players are the future of the team.

"I think it's great for [Bafana coach] Gordon [Igesund] to start giving young players a chance to gain international experience. He's called a lot of players who I think can be the future of the country."

Despite not qualifying, Masinga says Igesund is the man to lead Bafana to success.

"The mandate which was given to Gordon was unrealistic. He inherited a team with lots of problems. He had to fix the team first. So far, he's done well."

The game kicks off at 9pm at Agadir Stadium in Morocco.
