MPs insult Joemat-Pettersson
The ANC is taking action against one of its own following a heated committee meeting.
CAPE TOWN - The ANC in Parliament is taking action against one of its own following a heated committee meeting with Agriculture Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson.
Wednesday night's meeting degenerated into chaos when Members of Parliament (MPs) hurled insults at the agriculture minister.
ANC MP Salam Abram lost his cool and accused the minister of being a liar.
"I have no regrets because the minister had been twisting facts," Abram said.
The ANC Chief Whip's spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says Abraham will face disciplinary action.
"We will definitely investigate and make sure that a disciplinary process is instituted against him."
At the same time, Democratic Alliance MP Pieter van Dalen also walked out of the meeting.
It is alleged he too made an offensive remark.
