6,000 cases against cops investigated
The IPID report shows 6,000 complaints implicating police officers in crimes.

CAPE TOWN - The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) says it has investigated thousands of criminal cases involving police officers.
This emerged in the police watchdog's annual report for the 2012/2013 financial year.
IPID received more than 6,000 complaints to probe, with more than 4,000 of these assault cases.
At least 275 deaths in police custody were reported to the IPID while a further 431 deaths were recorded as a result of police action.
Almost 150 cases of sexual assault implicating police officials were recorded while at least 50 torture matters were also investigated.
