Dubious doctor’s case postponed
Ganesh Anil Anirudhra is facing more than 300 charges of fraud.
CAPE TOWN - The case against a dubious doctor has been postponed as the state is awaiting a decision on which court has capacity to prosecute him.
Ganesh Anil Anirudhra is accused of defrauding medical aid schemes and the Department of Labour's compensation fund.
He faces more than 300 charges of fraud.
Despite a pending case against him in the North West, he moved to Cape Town several months ago where he illegally practiced as a gynaecologist.
Known to his patients as Dr Anil, he has been illegally practicing in the Mother City for several months.
Anirudhra's North West case before the Brits Magistrate's Court has been postponed to February.
In the meantime, he remains out on bail.
Anirudhra was arrested by the Hawks in December while working at the Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria.
The Health Professions Council of South Africa vowed to take action against him.
