Hanover Park parents ask for help
Gangsters are reportedly recruiting schoolchildren in the community.
CAPE TOWN - Many Hanover Park parents are up in arms at the surge in gangs targeting teenagers to join their ranks.
Speaking to Eyewitness News , parents said high school learners are being recruited to sell drugs on behalf of gangs.
A few gangsters have admitted to doing this, adding they even stash weapons at the homes of some recruits.
Resident Evelyn Williams called on authorities to intervene.
"This is a big problem. They [gangs] involve school children in drugs and prostitution."
Over 30 people have been killed in gang-related violence throughout the city in recent months.
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille has called on national government to help in the fight against gangs.
