JOHANNESBURG - Eyewitness News has announced the launch of its new mobile app.
Aimed at enhancing the user experience for its growing mobile audience, the app offers an intuitive navigation experience which mimics traditional news browsing.
For news consumers who want to keep up-to-date while on the go, the app delivers a range of categories including the latest breaking news, world news, weather, traffic, sport, business and entertainment.
The app also features audio content from EWN's radio brands and a video channel.
Primedia Broadcasting digital head Allan Kent says the app is an extension of the success of EWN's mobile site which he says has recently seen an explosion in audience numbers.
In addition, Kent says the main website has more than doubled its unique users in just over a year since it was re-launched.
"The new app builds on these successes and aims to offer sleek, fresh design while providing an easy and pleasant news reading experience. Today, EWN consistently features in top five results returned by Google for various news stories."
Prezence Digital CEO Prakash Patel, who developed the app in collaboration with EWN, says the app's development capitalised on tried and tested mobile user experiences.
"We did not want to create just another content consuming app, but to push the boundaries of creating something truly unique."
