Seven men were arrested in connection with the theft of batteries for a telecommunications signal tower.
JOHANNESBURG - The seven men arrested in connection with the theft of batteries for a telecommunications signal tower worth about R1 million, will appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on Monday.
The group was arrested at a scrapyard in Olifantsfontein on Friday night after they were found to be in possession of two bakkies carrying 28 batteries.
Gauteng police's Katlego Mogale said on Saturday the batteries are believed to have been stolen in Lenasia and Giyani.
He said two other suspects are still on the run.
"They were also found with master keys to the Vodacom, Eskom, MTN and Telkom towers. The investigation continues."
