CAPE TOWN - ANC branches in the Western Cape are preparing for the provincial conference where delegates will vote for new provincial leaders.

Elected officials will represent them in national and provincial government after the 2014 general elections.

Various branches have already held meetings to discuss their preferred candidates.

The various lobby lists will be consolidated ahead of the party's list conference in October.

Western Cape ANC Secretary Songezo Mjongile says, "The issue of the premier nomination will be done by the provincial executive committee once we have completed the process of the list compilation."

ANC Provincial Chairperson Marius Fransman is reportedly the party's preferred candidate for the post of premier.

Former Western Cape Premier Lynne Brown and Mcebisi Skwatsha are on various lists to go to Parliament.
