Jali out of CAF Champions clash
Andile Jali has been ruled out of the CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly on Sunday
JOHANNESBURG - Andile Jali has been ruled out of Sunday's Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League clash against Al Ahly, Orlando Pirates spokesperson Mickey Modisane confirmed on Friday.
He injured his shoulder during a Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash against Polokwane City on Wednesday evening.
"Jali won't be ava ilable because of his shoulder. He is experiencing some discomfort so he won't play," Modisane said.
Striker Collins Mbesuma is also in doubt for the fixture as he is still struggling with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, former Pirates player Ronny Zondi expects Orlando Pirates to qualify for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
Pirates were on course to comfortably qualify for the semis, but defeats to Zamalek and AC Leopards means they must win to assure a spot in the last four.
Zondi says the absence of Jali shouldn't affect the team.
"I don't think it will be much of a problem; there are other capable players who can do the same job."
The match kicks at 14:30 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
