23-year-old shot in Mitchell's Plain

Unknown suspects fired several shots at the deceased and another man in Beacon Valley.

CAPE TOWN - Police have confirmed a 23-year-old man has been shot and killed in Mitchell's Plain on Sunday afternoon.

It's alleged that unknown suspects fired several shots at the deceased and another man in Beacon Valley.

Officials say the second man was wounded in the arm and has been transported to hospital for further medical treatment.

61-year-old Irefaan Easau has confirmed to Eyewitness News that he was shot.

"I came there with my car and called a mechanic because the car switched off, as we went to the car, people began shooting, one of the bullets hit me and I don't know if my friend is dead."

Meanwhile, six people have been arrested for the possession of drugs worth R120 thousand in George.

Authorities say they found two bags containing more than 2,000 mandrax tablets and tik worth R10,000.

The police's Malcolm Poje said the five men allegedly between the ages of 30 and 40 and are about to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on charges of possession of drugs.
