Hanged girl to be laid to rest
The four-year-old was raped, murdered and found hanged earlier this week.
JOHANNESBURG - A four-year-old Katlehong girl who was raped, murdered and found hanged earlier this week will be laid to rest this morning.
Keabetswe Tshabalala went missing on Sunday in the Mofokeng section of the Katlehong informal settlement.
Her body was discovered hanging inside an old building on Monday morning.
A family friend has since been arrested for her murder.
The 37-year-old man led community members to the building where her body was found hanging with her pants, underwear and shoes off.
He has been charged with murder and rape and is expected to appear in court soon.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality's Patricia Khumalo said the municipality has arranged a burial for her.
"The family is indigent as nobody works. Also the tragic way in which the little girl died evoked a lot of emotions within the community."
Meanwhile, the hunt continues for the killer of 5-year-old Anelisa Mkhondo whose body was discovered on the same day in Diepsloot.
The girl's body was found next to a dumpster in the northern Johannesburg township and police believe she may have been raped by her killer.
