CAPE TOWN - The Knysna vice principal, who allegedly raped a 12-year-old learner during school hours, is expected to face a disciplinary hearing soon.

The 51-year-old Fraaisig Primary School deputy was caught in the act by a colleague.

It's understood he had asked two learners to help him with a task and when one of them left, he apparently sexually assaulted the other.

He has since been released on R4,000 bail.

The Western Cape Education Department's Paddy Atwell said, "The department has investigated the case independently from the court case. We plan to start the disciplinary process on 25 September. But these dates still need to be finalised."
