Diepsloot child found at dumpsite
The little girl's body was discovered by a refuse collector this morning.
JOHANNESBURG - The body of a child has been found behind a dumpster in Diepsloot north of Johannesburg.
Details remain sketchy, but it's believed the child went missing over the weekend.
A search by residents proved unsuccessful until a refuse collector discovered the body this morning.
A Diepsloot resident was on the scene at the time of the discovery.
"A little girl between the ages of six and seven was found dead behind the dumpster. She went missing on Saturday or Sunday. Today someone came to collect the garbage and found her."
Residents say they are heartbroken and outraged by the crime and say police didn't do enough to find her after she was reported missing.
A group of women started going from one shack to the other trying to find the girl's killer.
The girl was found with a t-shirt and underwear on.
It's also been alleged a used condom was found near the scene.
Police have now taken over the search of the shacks but no arrests have been made.
