A half-naked four-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in Katlehong on Gauteng’s East Rand.
JOHANNESBURG - A four-year-old girl has been found hanged in Katlehong on Gauteng's East Rand on Monday.
The child went missing on Sunday in the Mofokeng Section, but her disappearance was not reported by her parents.
Keabetswe Tshabalala's half-naked body was discovered hanging inside an old building on Monday morning. [It was initially reported that the girl was found hanging from a tree by a person walking by, but police found this to be untrue.]
Police Spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said details remained sketchy, but said the girl was half-naked when she was found.
"At this stage, we don't know whether she was raped before being killed," he added.
Meanwhile, the body of a child has also been found behind a dumpster in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.
It's believed the child went missing over the weekend.
A search by residents proved unsuccessful until a waste collector discovered the body on Monday morning.
