Wits to deal with harassment cases
Vice Chancellor Adam Habib has vowed to make Wits a safe institution for all.
JOHANNESBURG - Wits Vice Chancellor Adam Habib says they will ensure the university becomes a safe learning environment for all following a spate of sexual harassment cases.
Since the beginning of this year, the institution has been dealing with several abuse cases and has already fired two lecturers.
There are currently three cases pending while a fourth is being dealt with at the CCMA.
Habib says it's been a tough situation to deal with and he's apologised.
"When the students, staff or anybody else who experience sexual harassment at Wits, it is absolutely unacceptable as this needs to be a safe space for everyone."
