Sharks top of log with 14 points

JOHANNESBURG - The Sharks secured a 34-18 win against the Blue Bulls at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday in the final Currie Cup match of the weekend.

The Sharks scored four tries to pick up a bonus point, they came from SP Marais, Heimar Williams, Charl McLeod and Marco Wentzel.

For the Bulls, there were two tries by Akona Ndungane.

The Free State Cheetahs beat the Griquas in an ill-disciplined game of rugby in Bloemfontein.

The Cheetahs took a 22-6 lead into the half time break thanks to two tries by Boom Prinsloo and one by Rhaymond Rhule.

In the second half, Elgar Watts scored the bonus point try for the Cheetahs which was quickly followed by the Griqua's first try by Rocco Jansen.

Both sides had a player sin-binned in the second half.

In the 63rd minute, Griquas scored their second try of the match through Rory Arnold, but Arnold was sent off for biting Ethienne Reynecke.

Kevin Luiters sealed the win for the Cheetahs with a last minute try sealing a win of 40-20.

After round four, the Sharks are at the top of the log with 14 points, below them the Cheetahs and Western Province have 12 and the Lions nine. The Bulls and Griquas share the bottom of the log with six points.
