DA: Evidence shows ANC is behind 'Poo wars'
Helen Zille’s office says it will soon reveal video footage linking the ANC to human waste protests.
CAPE TOWN - The office of Western Cape Premier Helen Zille said on Wednesday it will soon reveal video footage linking Western Cape African National Congress (ANC) members to the so called 'toilet wars'.
Protesters have vented their anger at poor sanitation services in some informal settlements for a few months.
In June this year, protesters flung raw sewage at a convoy transporting Zille through Khayelitsha.
Demonstrators also emptied the contents of portable toilets on the doorsteps of the Western Cape Legislature.
Some angry residents even threw human faeces at passing cars on the N2 Highway near Khayelitsha.
Demonstrators have also targeted Parliament and the Cape Town International Airport.
Zille's spokesman Zak Mbhele said, "There were some loose ends which needed to be clarified and confirmed before they could be released publically."
But Mbhele would not divulge which details still have to be reviewed or confirmed.
"It speaks to the fact that there is a lot of information that's been gathered over the last couple of weeks which paint a very clear picture of who is behind these tactics we've been seeing on the N2 Highway."
