Catrakilis commits to Western Province

Demetri Catrakilis played for the Kings during this year’s Super Rugby season.

Demetri Catrakilis has signed a two year deal with Western Province

CAPE TOWN - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee has confirmed Demetri Catrakilis has made a permanent move to the union.

Catrakilis' future was unclear after making a loan move from the Kings for the Currie Cup season.

Coetzee says he is happy with his flyhalf options for next year.

"Demetri has signed a two year deal with Province. Peter Grant will still be in Japan when the competition (Super Rugby) starts again. He will probably be back in Cape Town mid to late February and with Gary I think we have the right balance and mix there."

Meanwhile, Coetsee has made only two changes to the side that beat Griquas on Saturday. Tiaan Liebenberg starts ahead of Scarra Ntubeni at hooker and Nic Groom starts in the number nine jersey ahead of Louis Schreuder.

Western Province team to face the Lions on Friday night:

15 - Aplon, 14 - Van den Heever, 13 - De Jong, 12 - De Allende, 11 - Kolbe, 10 - Coleman, 9 - Groom, 8 - Carr, 7 - Elstadt, 6 - Fourie, 5 - Steenkamp, 4 - Rhodes, 3 - Cilliers, 2 - Liebenberg, 1 - Kitshoff.

Replacements:

Ntubeni, Harris, Grobler, R Kitshoff, Schreuder, Swiel, Van der Spuy.
