Two killed in CT shack fire
A 28-year-old woman and her four-year-old son were killed when their shack caught fire on Sunday.
CAPE TOWN - A mother and her four-year-old son have died after a fire gutted their informal dwelling in Parkwood in Cape Town.
Veronica Abrahams and her son Reidewaan Slingers were killed in the blaze on Sunday morning.
Disaster Risk Management's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says a further five people have been displaced following a fire in Khayelitsha.
"In Mandela Park, Khayelitsha two shacks were burnt to the ground, leaving five people displaced. There were no injuries in that incident."
Meanwhile, a three-year-old girl died in shack fire in Mfuleni on Saturday morning.
The fire left five people homeless.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
