JOHANNESBURG - Young Communist League (YCL) Secretary General Buti Manamela on Sunday criticised Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele for disclosing her financial status.

He likened Ramphele with controversial businessman and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Kenny Kunene, who has previously been criticised for being flamboyant with his wealth.

She disclosed her net with of R55 million earlier this week.

Manamela said he did not respect Ramphele.

"She has come to politics in order to brag about the R55 million ngumama wezkhothane nje [she's the mother of zikhothanes]. Ngumama ofana nooKenny Kunene [She's like Kenny Kunene]. We will never respect her. We will never hold her in high regard. We will also disappoint her next year when we go and vote for the ANC."

This week, Ramphele called on President Jacob Zuma to disclose his finances.

However, the ANC said Zuma would not do so, saying all Parliamentarians have already disclosed their financial status.

The ANC's Keith Khoza also said Ramphele had no right to ask Zuma to disclose his finances to the public.
