JOHANNESBURG - Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertrugral has told EWN Sport he is disappointed Khama Billiat has left the club.

Billiat completed his deal to Mamelodi Sundowns this week after the deal appeared to have fallen through.

However, Erturgral tried to convince the player to stay at the club to improve his chances of an overseas move.

Ertugral says he is disappointed he didn't bid Billiat farewell.

"I'm only disappointed that he didn't come say goodbye because we all loved him here and he is a great boy and such great personality. Obviously, I would have loved him to stay one season more but I also understand financial background today in football is important with him looking after his whole family."

Ertugral says Billiat will have to work hard to get a first team place.

"Sundowns has picked a lot of great players. It is not only how you play football it is also how you adapt yourself in a team that has a hierarchy in there. So there are some really big players there and hopefully he'll adjust to that."

Billiat signed a three-year deal with The Brazilians, which includes the option for Sundowns to renew his contract for two years after the initial period.
