KZN Premier steps down
Zweli Mkhize will dedicate his full attention to being the ANC treasurer.
JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize has announced he is stepping down as head of the province.
Mkhize was elected as the ANC's treasurer at its Mangaung elective conference in December last year and it's understood the job requires his full time attention.
The now former KwaZulu-Natal Premier has thanked President Jacob Zuma for his support along with his colleagues in the province.
Meanwhile, the ANC's Chairman in KwaZulu-Natal has been sworn in as acting premier by Judge President Chiman Patel.
Mkhize will be based at the ANC's Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg.
