CAPE TOWN - 11 drunken drivers have been arrested in the Western Cape.

Several roadblocks were held in the province from the start of the weekend.

Traffic's Kenny Africa says more than 900 drivers have been tested for alcohol.

"There were no fatalities reported on the main and national route in the Western Cape this weekend except for two fatalities that were reported early Saturday morning in Mitchells Plain, where a vehicle ploughed into a house. Two occupants in the vehicle died.

He says the total fines which have been issued amounted to R100 800.

While the Province continues to record a downward trend in road deaths, a mid-year review of road accident deaths released by the Western Cape Government has shown that the rate at which they are decreasing in 2013 is at its lowest compared to other years.
