Accused officer remains in police custody
The officer will be appearing in the Middleburg Magistrates Court on charges of robbery and kidnapping.
JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks on Saturday confirmed that a senior Lenasia police official is still in police custody as he waits for a formal bail hearing this week.
He will be appearing in the Middleburg Magistrate's Court on charges of robbery and kidnapping.
The officer was arrested in Mpumalanga following investigations into crimes committed in Carolina and the Middleburg area.
"The arrested colonel appeared on charges of robbery and corruption," said the Hawks' Paul Ramaloko.
"The case has been remanded to next week Thursday, while he remains in custody, so he can join the other accused in this matter."
