Thokoza still in the dark
Parts of Thokoza have been without electricity since Friday after equipment was stolen and vandalised.
JOHANNESBURG - Parts of Thokoza on the East Rand are set to go without power for at least another day after equipment was stolen and vandalised at the township's substation.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality said vandals broke into the station on Friday evening and spilled about 30,000 litres of oil from two transformers.
The municipality's Sam Modiba said power will be restored as soon as possible.
He also urged community members to help them put those responsible behind bars.
"We should not have security patrolling things like sub-stations if we have community members that are vigilant and are working with us to put a stop to these acts of vandalism."
