Another Cape cop arrested for rape
A captain of the Special Task Force was arrested for raping a sex worker.
CAPE TOWN - Yet another police officer has been arrested in the Western Cape for rape.
The police captain, who is also a member of the Special Task Force, was taken into custody last week.
He is accused of raping a sex worker in Lansdowne.
He was off-duty at the time.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorates (IPID)'s Moses Dlamini says an investigation has been launched into the incident.
"It's alleged that he assaulted and raped her. The complainant managed to escape and took down the registration number of the vehicle, which was later traced."
Last month, a policeman in Paarl was taken into custody for allegedly raping his ex-wife.
He was later released on bail.
During the same month a police constable and a police captain, appeared in the Worcester Magistrates Court on separate rape charges.
