Vavi accepts outcome of censure
Corruption Watch says the relationship Vavi had with a subordinate was inappropriate.
JOHANNESBURG - Cosatu's General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says he has accepted the outcome of the censure handed down by Corruption Watch.
This follows his admission that he had an extra marital affair with a subordinate.
The organisation says Vavi cannot speak in his capacity as a board member, however, he retains his position on the board.
The board says its decision is guided by the best interests of the organisation and took into account the fact that any sexual relationship between a senior member and a junior member is inappropriate.
Cosatu is yet to comment on whether or not Vavi is to face an internal disciplinary process for gross misconduct.
In a statement the anti-corruption body writes that it has asked Vavi to explain the process he followed to appoint the Cosatu junior employee who accused him of rape and to explain the nature of their relationship.
