Rain brings benefit and loss - WC farms
Although rains have damaged crops and livestock, it is considered part of the package.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape farmers have welcomed the heavy downpours despite suffering major damage.
The rain caused havoc in the Overberg region. Several grain crops were damaged following flooding in the area.
On one farm, 22 lambs died due to the severe cold.
Agri Mega's Jan Greyling said;
"Rain is a positive experience for farmers and if they have damage it will be seen as part of the package. The area at this point is quite accessible although you can't get through from Swellendam to Bredasdorp."
Gauteng has also enjoyed good rainfall.
