JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has entrusted its national spokesperson Mmusi Maimane with the candidacy for Premier of Gauteng.

He was competing against fellow DA member and Gauteng caucus leader Jack Bloom.

The party's Kelly Miller says they have faith in their chosen candidate.

"We are confident we can win this province in the 2014 election and we believe he's going to do an incredible job."

Maimane says he plans to address the issues around Gauteng's e-tolling system as DA's candidate for premier of the province.

"We have to run a government that's competent, that delivers services and ends corruption. We have to deal with the issue of tolling and make sure small businesses in Gauteng thrive."
