Zille calls for an end to 'poo wars'
The Western Cape premier has described recent poo-flinging acts as despicable.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille on Tuesday called on the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the province to put an end to the so-called 'faeces wars'.
Incidents of sewage dumping have flared up again.
The Western Cape legislature and a Democratic Alliance (DA) constituency office were targeted this week.
In the latest incident equipment belonging to the DA was damaged when protestors started flinging poo on Tuesday. DA members were meeting at a constituency office in Khayelitsha when a group of people stormed the premises and dumped human waste.
But The ANCYL has distanced itself from the latest incidents.
The league's Muhammad Sayed said, "We have called upon our members and the affected communities to only engage in democratic forms of protests."
The premier has described these acts as despicable.
