Workers claim racist treatment
Union to investigate allegations of racism and unfair treatment.
JOHANNESBURG - Supervisors at Tshwane's Department of Water and Sanitation are under investigation following allegations of racism.
Workers claim they are working under apartheid laws where the use of the same toilets by black and white employees is forbidden.
They also claim that two workers died after being given incorrect instructions from their bosses.
Freddy Motshekga is one of the department's workers.
"They have instructed somebody to climb on the roof of a house. That somebody has fallen and is now deceased. They don't want to account for it. There have been many similar incidents like this."
The department's Thomas Motshedza says; "The intention is that by next week we will go back to the union and get a response to deal with each of the allegations."
