JOHANNESBURG - The controversial film_ Of Good Report_ has been honoured with a new award for artistic bravery at the Durban International Film Festival.
This after the movie was unbanned by the Film and Publication Appeal Tribunal on Saturday.
The Film and Publication Board (FPB) originally banned the movie, saying it contains child pornography.
The film tells the story of a teacher falling in love with a girl, only to find out that she is an under-aged pupil at his school.
The film's director Jahmil Qubeka says the FPB must admit it was wrong to smear the film as child pornography.
Qubeka says he is humbled by the award and says the film was designed to start a debate among the public.
He intends to sue the Film and Publication Board as their allegations of child pornography are damaging for an artist's career.
Meanwhile, the FPB has expressed disappointment with the ruling, saying the film portrays strong gender-based violence against women and children.
it says some scenes are graphic, disturbing and distressing.
