CAPE TOWN - Five people have been killed in an accident on the N7 highway near Melkbosstrand in Cape Town.

This after the driver of a car lost control of his vehicle on Saturday morning.

"Just before 7am, the driver of an Audi motor vehicle lost control and five occupants died. Three people are still trapped inside the vehicle."

In a separate incident, one person was killed in an accident at the corner of Buitenkant and Darling streets in Milnerton.

According to ER24 paramedics, emergency personnel arrived on the scene at 5am on Saturday morning.

The accident involved a Toyota vehicle.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, officials were performing CPR on a man flung from the car.

The man was declared dead on the scene.

Two other men suffered moderate injuries and were taken to the New Somerset Hospital for further care.

It is believed police detained the occupants of the Hilux for questioning.

Investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the crash.
