Krejcir survives bizarre hit attempt
The controversial Czech businessman survived shots fired from behind a car's number plate.
JOHANNESBURG - Eyewitness News has learnt that Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir has survived an attempted hit on his life in Bedfordview.
Krejcir had just exited his vehicle outside his office near Eastgate when several shots were fired at him.
The Czech told Eyewitness News a remote-control-triggered gun with twelve barrels was used.
The device was situated behind the licence plate on a red Volkswagen Cross Polo. The car then burst into flames.
He says he was not hit but is shaken up.
Police sources have confirmed these details.
It's understood the shooting is related to a turf war within the Johannesburg criminal underworld.
Krejcir's name has been associated with a number of unsolved murders but he has never been charged.
He is currently fighting an attempt to extradite him to the Czech Republic.
