Amla injury compounds Proteas' woes
The opening batsman was injured during South Africa's 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka.
CAPE TOWN - The Proteas will be without Hashim Amla for at least a week after he injured his groin in Tuesday's 17 run loss to Sri Lanka in Colombo.
The hosts batted first in a rain affected match, posting 223 for 9 in 49.2 overs.
Morne Morkel was the pick of the South African bowlers, taking three wickets for 34 runs in his 10 overs.
Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dinesh Chandimal scored 43 runs a piece to boost Sri Lanka's total.
South Africa were set a revised total of 176 for victory, but lost wickets at regular intervals. They were 104/5 after 21 overs when the game was called off, losing the second ODI courtesy of the Duckworth Lewis Method.
The 3rd ODI is at a new stadium called Pallekele on Friday, which captain AB de Villiers is hoping will favour the Proteas style of play.
Amla will not be available for that game after injuring his groin when he fell awkwardly while fielding. He also missed the opening game of the series due to a neck spasm.
