Public Protector to respond to allegations
Thuli Madonsela is accused of maladministration charges by her former deputy.
CAPE TOWN - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will respond next month to allegations of maladministration levelled against her by her former deputy, Mamiki Shai.
Madonsela will appear before Parliament's Justice Committee on 2 August.
It will be her first opportunity to respond to the allegations that her office inflated tenders, practiced nepotism, breached policy and that the Democratic Alliance bribed staff in the Kimberly office.
Madonsela asked Parliament to investigate when she became aware of the allegations.
The committee decided on the date on Tuesday after Madonsela indicated she would be available.
