McKenzie to coach Wallabies
McKenzie replaces Robbie Deans who has stepped down after the Lions series loss.
CAPE TOWN - Australian rugby coach, Robbie Deans has stepped down.
Deans' departure is not totally unexpected - it comes in the wake of the Wallabies' recent series loss to the British and Irish Lions.
The Lions won the first test 23 - 21, in the second the Wallabies scraped home 16 - 15, but they were thrashed in the series decider on Saturday, losing 41 - 16.
Deans has been under pressure for an extended period, including the issue around Quade Cooper's dropping from the side as well other disciplinary issues under his watch.
The New Zealander was Australia's longest serving coach (74 tests) and had a 58 percent winning record.
Deans will be replaced by former Reds coach, Ewen McKenzie.
