City to bring full-strength team to SA
Vincent Kompany, Sergio Agüero and Maicon Sisenando will all show up for the event.
JOHANNESBURG - Manchester City fans in South Africa can expect high quality football, organisers said on Tuesday.
The English Premier League side will bring a full strength squad to the country.
The team will play its first game against SuperSport United on Sunday and then AmaZulu on 18 July in honour of Nelson Mandela's 95th birthday.
Matchworld Executive Chairperson Lyndon Barends said organisers want to make the event as well-attended as possible.
"After discussion with [officials in] Durban and Tshwane as well as Africa Rising, we decided to make it a little bit more accessible. So we've made tickets available at R95 for the public, so that more people can come and celebrate this day with us."
Star players, including Vincent Kompany, Sergio Agüero and Maicon Sisenando will all show up for the event.
Barends says a "full squad" will make their way to South Africa.
"We can go on and on with the names, but there's no one substantial that's been left off the list. It's great to honour Mr. Mandela in this manner."
