JOHANNESBURG - Singer Kurt Darren has sustained a blow to the head which doctors suspect has caused some eye damage.

He will remain in Milpark Hospital's intensive care unit for the next two days.

Darren broke eight ribs during a car accident over the weekend.

The artist's brother, Darren van Heerden, says he will undergo some more brain scans.

"A nerve in his eye has been damaged. He can't focus with his eyes. The doctors are hoping it will come right on its own otherwise they'll have to step in."

Van Heerden adds his brother is also experiencing some memory loss.

"He seems to be forgetting that he's even in hospital. He's not 100 percent just yet."

On Saturday, Darren was airlifted to hospital after the car he was travelling in with a colleague fell into a ditch in the Pretoria East area.

They were on their way back to Darren's house after watching rugby with family and friends when the accident occurred.
